It goes that this day is the anniversary of the creation of the universe by Lord Brahma. This day represents new beginnings and starting afresh ones journey through life. Across the puranas this detail is the same regarding the creation of the universe.
Ugadi, the Telugu New Year is a reminder that life move on through the cycle of birth and death, creation and destruction so it should be celebrated while it is possible to do so through dharma.
